Activity 1

Rewrite each of the following sentences to make clear the vague pronoun reference. Add, change, or omit words as necessary.

Example

Lana thanked Maggie for the gift, which was very thoughtful of her.

Activity 4

Add quotation mark where necessary. Remember the rules of placing commas, periods, and questions marks inside or outside the quotation marks.

The Editors' Desk Task

Imagine that you are the chief editor of a journal and want to publish a weekly newspaper. In groups of 3, each studend choose one of the suggested topics and followoing the instructions given in the class share a blank document (please write your sure name in the title of form) in Google Docs with their partners and the instructor of the course. Before writing your essay group members can brain storm with each other in their groups and then can start writing their essays. While and after writing you can take advantages from your teammates suggestions. After that you can exchange your thoughts and other 2 members of your group need to evaluate your paper based on the following evluation form (you can download .docx or .pdf file attached below). In the final run, you must move your essay into a newpaper template and publish it with the other members of the class. You can find the newspaper template as a atatched file below this page. 

 

Your Mission:

Here are some ideas for process analysis paragraphs. Choose one of the below topics and write your paragraphs (250 words at least) following the mentioned guidelines. Don't forget to visit your classmates' web pages and make comments for them.

- What do need to do to get a driver's license?

What are the steps in writing a good paragraph?

What steps does a succesful job applicant follow?

How would you ask your boss for a raise?

Describe how to use a search engine to explore a topic on the World Wide Web.

  What is the general topic of the paragraph? What is the specific topic?

  Do all the sentences relate to one topic? If not, which sentences has extra information? 

□ Is the first word of every sentence capitalized? Does every sentence end with correct punctuation? 

  Did you notice an error in subject-verb agreement? If so, try to correct it and refine your text.
